A facelift is surgery to reposition tissues that have descended in the face. Depending on the findings, skin and deeper tissue layers are repositioned. Neck surgery may be added. The extent and incision pattern depend on the areas affected.

A forehead lift, midface lift and neck lift have different aims. They are not automatically performed together. Tightening tissues does not treat surface skin changes, pigmentation or every individual wrinkle in the same way.

Scars remain, and swelling and bruising may occur during healing. Risks include bleeding after surgery, wound healing problems, changes in sensation and injury to facial nerves. A facelift does not stop natural ageing. The consultation explains the change that may be achievable and the recovery time required.
