Eyelid surgery changes the skin or other tissues of the upper or lower eyelid according to the findings. Excess skin, bulging fat, a lowered eyebrow and a problem with the muscle that raises the eyelid are different conditions. They do not require the same treatment.
Upper eyelid surgery can specifically remove excess skin. For the lower eyelid, options may include repositioning fat or improving eyelid support. A brow lift is a separate procedure, rather than simply removing a strip of skin from the upper eyelid.
Planning takes eyelid closure, the surface of the eye, symmetry and previous procedures into account. Possible risks include dry eyes, scarring, bleeding after surgery and eyelid malposition. A fresher appearance is a personal aim, not an outcome that can be guaranteed.
