Body lifting refers to surgical procedures that tighten substantial excess skin. It may be considered after major weight loss or when there is pronounced sagging. The term covers different operations and does not define one fixed extent of treatment.

A lower body lift may treat the abdomen, sides of the trunk and buttocks together. The scar then often follows a belt-like incision. Additional treatment of the arms, breasts or thighs is planned separately.

A reasonably stable weight and medical suitability are important before surgery. Healing, scars, possible further procedures and the organisation of aftercare are discussed. Combining many procedures is not automatically the best option for everyone.
