Lip filler injections can change the volume, contour or small differences in lip shape. Hyaluronic acid fillers are often used. Planning takes account of the existing lip shape, the tissue and the person’s wishes.
Products and techniques differ; no fixed amount suits every face. Local anaesthesia or a product containing an anaesthetic may reduce discomfort. The appropriate method is chosen individually. Anaesthetic cream does not necessarily distort the result.
Swelling, bruising, tenderness and temporary irregularities are possible. Other risks include infection, nodules and, rarely, serious vascular complications. Because of possible swelling, the appearance immediately after injection is not yet the final result.
