Care after surgery depends on the operation and the person's healing progress. Written instructions on wound care, medicines, clothing and physical activity provide guidance. Follow-up appointments and arrangements for contacting the team if symptoms arise should be in place before discharge.
Taking it easy does not mean complete immobility after every operation. The appropriate amount of movement is determined by the doctor. Sport, saunas, sun exposure and strenuous activity may be restricted for a time. General timelines do not replace individual medical clearance.
Increasing pain, unusual swelling, fever, shortness of breath or other unexpected symptoms require assessment with the urgency the symptoms warrant. Medicines should not be stopped or added without medical advice. Aftercare supports healing but cannot guarantee a particular course of recovery.
