Dark circles: what is possible in the short term?
Dark shadows under the eyes may remain visible even after enough sleep. Whether they bother you and whether you choose to cover them with make-up is a personal decision. Cosmetics can alter their appearance to varying degrees, but do not treat the cause.
If you are considering a longer-lasting change, first have the type of dark circles assessed. No treatment can promise a particular result for every condition or within just a few minutes.
The treatment options for dark circles depend on their cause. Pigmentation, thin skin, swelling and a deep tear trough each call for different considerations. Hyaluronic acid may be considered for an appropriate volume deficit, but it does not remove every form of dark circles.
Your wishes and achievable changes are discussed after an examination. Mc Aesthetics values a natural-looking eye area that suits your personal expression. Your own eye shape and facial expressions should guide the aesthetic approach, rather than exaggerated forms or changing social media trends.
Consultation and treatment
A detailed medical consultation and examination of the eye area are required before treatment. The cause, expectations and suitable options are discussed. You then decide together whether treatment is appropriate and when it might take place.
You should have enough opportunity to ask questions and make a considered decision. The doctor’s qualifications and experience must be appropriate to the proposed procedure.
When assessing dark circles, the first step is to distinguish volume deficit, pigmentation, swelling and other causes. A short injection time does not mean that dark shadows disappear after ten minutes. A hyaluronic acid filler is an option only for suitable findings and is a manufactured product with its own risks.
Some products contain a local anaesthetic; pain relief is planned individually. Pain, swelling, bruising and other complications are possible, including rare serious vascular complications. The process includes consultation, aftercare and a later assessment once early reactions have settled.
Injections may be considered for suitable hollows. They do not eliminate every form of dark circles or under-eye bags, and no particular outcome can be promised.
You can find insights into aesthetic topics on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Photographs capture individual conditions at the time of the shot and do not replace an examination or personal explanation of the procedure.
When might hyaluronic acid be an option?
A hyaluronic acid filler may be considered for a suitable volume deficit. It does not generally remove dark colour, swelling or under-eye bags. Although hyaluronic acid occurs in the human body, an injectable product is manufactured and has its own properties and risks. Its suitability for the eye area and your individual findings is assessed before treatment.
