What if dark circles do not go away?
Dark shadows under the eyes can be bothersome in everyday life, whether you notice them in the mirror or in photographs. Some people try to cover them with make-up; others would prefer not to conceal them every day. If the shadows persist despite adequate rest, this does not automatically mean that filler injections are the right solution. The first step is to understand what makes the eye area look dark or tired.

Open the full visual guidePigmentation, thin skin through which blood vessels are visible, swelling and a pronounced tear trough can each contribute in different ways. Several factors may also occur together. Skincare and make-up affect the surface or the appearance of colour, but cannot address every loss of volume. Equally, filler does not resolve every type of discolouration or swelling. At Mc Aesthetics, your individual proportions and personal expression guide the discussion; a particular eye shape or social media trend is not a treatment goal for everyone.
When hyaluronic acid may be an option
If there is a suitable volume deficit, hyaluronic acid treatment around the eyes may be considered. The focus is on the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek. Filler injections do not remove excess skin or automatically eliminate protruding fat pads or pronounced under-eye bags. Depending on the findings, other measures, an assessment for eyelid surgery or choosing not to have a procedure may be more appropriate. A photograph alone cannot establish this.
Consultation and treatment
Before any treatment, the doctor responsible examines the eye area and discusses your expectations. The conversation includes previous procedures or fillers, medical conditions, allergies and medication. It should also cover what changes are realistic and which features will remain. You should have enough time to ask questions and make a considered decision.
Treatment immediately after the consultation should not be taken for granted. Suitability, informed consent and scheduling all need to be considered. The injection itself may be relatively brief; this does not guarantee a fixed appointment length or the immediate, complete disappearance of dark shadows. An immediately visible change in volume is different from the result once swelling has settled.
What is used for the injections?
Hyaluronic acid also occurs in the human body. An injectable filler, however, is a specially manufactured product with its own properties and risks. Its composition, the area being treated and the individual's circumstances all need to be taken into account. Some products contain a local anaesthetic; any additional pain relief is discussed beforehand. A fine needle or cannula and an anaesthetic do not make treatment inherently painless.
Risks and recovery
Pain, swelling, bruising or irregularities can occur after filler injections. Infections and, rarely, serious complications involving blood vessels are also possible. Unusually severe pain or changes in vision during or after filler treatment require immediate medical assessment. Recovery varies from person to person; an eye area with no visible signs of treatment straight after the appointment cannot be guaranteed. Aftercare, whom to contact if symptoms develop and the limits of possible correction are discussed in advance.
Putting experiences in context and preparing for a consultation
You can find further insights on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Individual accounts and before-and-after photographs cannot predict your personal result. Camera angle, lighting and when a photograph was taken influence its appearance. Images cannot replace an examination and a conversation.
To prepare, you can note what specifically bothers you, which skincare approaches you have already tried and whether the changes are recent or long-standing.
