Distinguishing under-eye bags from dark shadows

What people call under-eye bags can have different causes: protruding fat, swelling or a pronounced transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek. Dark discolouration or fine lines may also be present. The same applies to women and men: these findings cannot all be changed with the same method. An examination of the eye area is therefore the starting point.

Discuss what specifically bothers you and which facial features you would like to preserve. Mc Aesthetics takes your own proportions and personal expression as its starting point. A particular beauty ideal or social media trend does not determine the treatment goal. Choosing not to have a procedure for the time being is also an option.

What are the surgical and non-surgical options?

Hyaluronic acid injections may be considered when there is a suitable volume deficit. They do not remove excess skin or necessarily eliminate protruding fat pads. Pronounced under-eye bags cannot therefore simply be “injected away”. Where excess skin or protruding tissue is the main concern, an assessment for eyelid surgery may be appropriate. Surgery, in turn, does not automatically remove every dark discolouration.

The choice of treatment depends on the findings and an individual assessment of benefits, limitations and risks. The immediate, complete removal of shadows, wrinkles and under-eye bags cannot be promised. Our article on the risks of eyelid surgery can help you prepare questions about a possible operation.

Consultation, product choice and appointment planning

Before a decision is made, you discuss your expectations, previous treatments, medical conditions, allergies and medication. The doctor responsible explains suitable procedures and alternatives. If filler is an option, you should know which product is proposed and why. A brand name or a “premium” label does not replace this explanation.

A consultation does not automatically lead to treatment on the same day. An examination, clear information and sufficient time to consider your decision come first. Confirm the actual consultation venue, availability and, where relevant, care after a procedure. If you are travelling, planning may include someone to accompany you and accessible aftercare. Recovery and possible risks

Pain, swelling, bruising or irregularities can occur after filler treatment. Infections and, rarely, serious complications involving blood vessels are also possible. Unusually severe pain or changes in vision during or after an injection require immediate medical attention. Eyelid surgery has its own risks and a different recovery period; preparation and aftercare must suit the particular procedure.

Ask beforehand about follow-up appointments, temporary restrictions on everyday activities and whom to contact if symptoms develop. How long an effect lasts, recovery time and the possibility of later correction vary from person to person. A brief injection procedure does not imply that treatment is painless or that there will be no visible signs of it immediately afterwards.

Putting experiences in context and choosing your next step

Patient accounts can offer insight into a past visit. They cannot reliably predict your own result. You can find additional content on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Camera angle, lighting and when a photograph was taken influence how a result appears in pictures.

Further information on eyelid surgery and non-surgical nose reshaping addresses separate treatment questions and is not a recommendation to combine procedures. You can send a personal enquiry to Contact form or prepare it through our contact section with WhatsApp access.
