Why the eyes may appear small

Some people would like a more open-looking gaze. Skin, volume and eyebrow position can change over time, while facial movement and individual anatomy also shape the eye area. You can find information about frown lines and Tear troughs . Age-related changes in skin and tissue can affect the appearance of the eyes. Excess eyelid skin and swelling have different causes. An examination is needed to decide whether surgery or another approach is appropriate.

Different methods may be assessed for age-related changes around the eyes. Botulinum toxin affects selected muscle activity, while fillers add volume. A combination is not suitable for everyone. Skin, swelling, eyelid function and existing proportions require careful assessment. These treatments do not change the actual size of the eyes. A medical consultation establishes what effect is realistic and which particular risks apply.

Botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid have different effects and uses. Around the eyes, particularly careful anatomical assessment is essential. The term “Bambi effect” describes an aesthetic wish, rather than a defined or guaranteed outcome. Before treatment, a qualified doctor will discuss your expectations, alternatives and the particular risks of this sensitive area. Not every change in the appearance of the eyes can be achieved with an injection. You can enquire about a personal consultation by email; suitability can only be established after examination.

A useful point to consider

A detailed consultation assesses the eye area, eyelid function and personal wishes before considering a suitable approach. Creating a more open-looking eye area may require different measures; it does not change the actual size of the eye. There should be enough time between consultation and treatment for questions and a freely made decision. Immediate treatment is neither a requirement nor a general promise.

If you would like to change the appearance of your eye area, a personal medical consultation can clarify the options and limits. Discuss eyelid function, anatomy and your expectations. Injections cannot achieve every change; alternatives and risks are also part of the discussion.

Many people want to understand possible changes in advance. Example images and personal accounts can offer guidance, but do not show how your own result will look. The starting condition, lighting and timing affect the impression. Social media images and videos do not replace a medical examination either. Ask what is realistic for your anatomy and when a result can meaningfully be assessed.

The eye area shapes facial expression, but perceptions of beauty and openness are personal. Hooded eyelids, under-eye bags, wrinkles and dark circles can have different anatomical or medical causes and require appropriate assessment. Botulinum toxin and fillers are not suitable for every change and do not actually enlarge the eyes. A personal medical examination establishes what visual change may be possible and whether surgery or a non-surgical treatment is appropriate. Treatment time and recovery are planned individually too.

Options for hyaluronic acid treatment

Only an in-person medical examination can establish which treatment may be suitable. The consultation covers your goals, alternatives, risks and the next steps.

Visible changes after non-surgical treatment depend on the procedure. Botulinum toxin takes time to work and does not remove excess skin. Photographs can document changes but cannot predict an individual result. A qualified medical consultation assesses which method suits eyelid function and anatomy, including its limitations and risks.
